Here is the Spirit goal. It was getting pretty dark so sorry they are not clearer. I posted a link to this shot on GotSoccer.com. Appears to be quite a range of opinion on exactly how the goal was scored. Some say the player dove into the ball others say a defender knocked her down and into the ball. In any event it was a solid header that drilled the ball into the back of the net. The player was completely horizontal about 12 to 18" off the ground. I think the photo was taken while the ball was still in the air before it hit the net. You don't know that your photos are going to be of goals when you take them. Goals happen relatively infrequently. I just follow the ball into the players and shoot. It is always a thrill to take a photo and then  hear the crowd cheer knowing you got the shot, albeit a lame one because of the light and slow shutter speed at night games. I always complain that to take good photos you have to watch the entire game through the camera. As a result, you oftentimes feel that you are not really watching or seeing the game. But what a kick when you get good results.

As the rest of the photos indicate, it was just getting too dark and the lights were not strong enough for action photographs requiring a fast shutter speed..
