I shot almost the entire game with my camera in the vertical position. Virtually everything I have ever learned about photography has come from the internet and those folks seem to think it is the only way soccer photos should be taken. So here is my first real attempt. I think it makes for a different type of photo. Rather than capturing a record of the action I think these photos are more in the nature of personal portraits of the players, which is not so bad either. I also used 200 speed film instead of the usual 400 to 800. This gives the photos a different look as the background will be fuzzier. Most professional photographers prefer this look.

If it was not so late I would go back and scan the negative instead of the print. In the negative the player's head and the ball are all within the picture area. (7/21/01) I went back and scanned the negative. The color from the print is much more realistic. The grass was not that green.

This may be my favorite shot of the day. (This is also why I get such a kick out of photography.)

This is a nice shot also. I like the intensity.
